Reading nook
We turned this backporch into an inviting reading nook. Anchored by wicker chairs and ottoman and bright folk art, giving real purpose to the pass through space.
Master Bathroom
This bathroom was updated with new cabinetry and vanity. We added a wrought iron chandelier and upholstered ottoman to bring some warmth and texture to the space. The mirrors above the vanities are hand carved.
Boho Living Room
This 1920's vintage living room was a great backdrop to work with. With twin arched book shelves, we showcased the collected traveller's treasures. The hand knotted rug unites the various textile pieces.
Sunporch
This formerly open porch was glassed in on two sides. We added a divided light door into each of the two living areas. The natural light in this space was amazing. We added a mosaic topped wrought iron table for cards or crafts. The handcrafted wooden secretary adds height to the room. A comfy reading chair sits in a corner.
Wooden Truss
European influenced trusses create a dramatic ceiling as the first thing you see upon entering the home. The undersized stone fireplace adds a level of intimacy.
Art-full Stairwell
This stairwell served as the gallery space for the home. Collected vintage images worked around shaded iron sconces create and intimate and memorable stairwell.
Classic dining room
This pretty little dining room is simple and stately. It housed a beautiful inlaid wooden table with carved captains chairs finished in leather and elegant arched dining side chairs.
Dining Room Part II
Another angle of the classic dining room. You can see the traditional foyer and the cross flow into the living area space.
Collected grouping of Artwork
One of our favorite things is to create groupings of artwork from items collected by our clients. We love a good story and these layouts have a way of revealing some of the things that are most important in our clients' stories.
Custom designed kitchen
We have a soft spot for this custom designed kitchen in the Ozarks. The island countertop and elevated bar were made from a solid walnut beam out of a century barn. Matte granite in a coffee color was on the counters surrounding the island. Small camoflauge colored glass squares made up the backsplash.
Custom Designed Kitchen Part II
The kitchen hutch was built in with narrow side storage cabinets designed for dinner plates. The custom designed hood vent was trimmed in rough hewn walnut.
Screen in back porch
This sweet backporch was set off the Master bedroom. It was private and outfitted in comfortable wicker settees and chairs.
Hearth Room
This low ceilinged hearth room adjacent to the kitchen was roomy enough to add a leather sofa and hooked rug. We set up a card table near the windows to the backyard. A hand carved mirror above the rough hewn mantle completes the cozy space.
Garden Gate
We found a pair of vintage garden gates at a flea market in Colorado and had them welded together to make a taller profile. They fit beautifully into this brick and stone arch leading into the backyard.
Mermaid guest room
This cheerful quilt on the white washed pine log bed made for a happy guest room. The mermaid was painted by a Floridian artist who discovered painting late in life and signed everything Frantic. Her mermaid is painted on board and the pigment is buoyed with life.
Champ's Nursery Process
This nursery was a fun project. We painted out the mountainscape in color layers helping define the small space, but not overly imposing a theme.
Kitchen Work in Progress
We gutted this 1950's north Dallas house and created an open floor plan. The home is built around a courtyard and we wanted to preserve the exterior while totally flipping the flow inside. We're standing in a generous living room looking back toward the kitchen. Painting is underway. Misty on the walls.
Shady Hill Master Bath Planning and Prog
Hard surfaces is one of the steps that we love to imagine and execute. Here are a couple of slides of an elegant master bathroom coming together -with the sketches showing how the plan becomes reality.
Shady Hill Master Bath Pt 2
Putting it together! This bathroom was imagined as having the appointments of a high end spa. We created a floor pattern that was highlighted by a Carrara 'rug' inset on the floor and anchored by a detailed border. We used soapstone in the adjoining closet.
Boys room
One of my favorite rooms coming together. This was done for a special young man heading into preschool.
We painted out in a striped pattern uniting the four walls and flowing through windows, with a vintage red iron bed serving as the centerpiece. His private bathroom just off the bedroom has a cobalt granite countertop and a random navy brick pattern.

Guest Bathroom
This windowless guest bathroom will become an elegant retreat that may not have guests anxious to leave. Monochromatic glass tile in various hues of grey circle the walls at shoulder height. The floor is rich and dark, too. The cabinetry stayed light as did the white porcelain shower that anchors the corner.
Barn Mural
We've painted many murals over the years - for children's rooms, businesses, church youth areas - but this is my favorite yet.
Our client has a ranch property north of Dallas with buildings exposed from the FM off of their drive. We talked about a number of options, but settled on a playful interpretation of their favorite getaway to the mountains...and buffalo...who doesn't love a happy Buffalo?
