Contemporary
The dictionary defines contemporary as: belonging to or occurring in the present. Simply put, contemporary refers to things “of this moment.” Contemporary design is heavily influenced by Modern design, but they are not the same. Modern is a specific historical period with a guiding philosophy and identifiable characteristics, while Contemporary is a work-in-progress, expressing the current zeitgeist and the growing edge of architectural and design elements.
Contemporary design incorporates a range of styles that emerged in the second half of the 20th century. Pieces feature softened and rounded lines, different from the stark lines seen in modern design. Interiors focus on the basics of line, shape and form. They contain neutral elements and bold color.
