Bohemian Chic
An enduring yet sometimes hard to define design style, Boho Chic leans toward the unexpected. its name itself a contradiction since it combines the dressed down and frugal aspects of bohemia with the smart and more expensive accouterments of chic fashion. Bohemian style mixes colors, patterns and textures in a seemingly random synchronicity.
Hard surfaces are slightly weathering and show evidence of use, well-loved and gently worn. It is a collection of materials put together in surprising and welcoming ways.
Contrasting materials used together – like burlap combined with exquisite silk, mixing antiques with hand-crafted contemporary pieces and a variety of lighting – floor lamps, candles, and table lamps – combine to create a warm, comfortable space for gathering, relaxing and telling the story of our lives.
A well-crafted Boho space is carefully collected and curated – it can be more complicated than other style trends. Anchoring it with a strong rug helps unite the grouping. A bold Turkish or Moroccan overdyed rug is usually perfect. You can choose to go vintage or go with a more updated interpretation but choose a rug that will help anchor your space and bring all the elements together. It is not a style that is driven by a lot of rules, so there is a sense of freedom in the style. There is very little unoccupied space in a Boho room so if you love "stuff" this is a great style for you.
